About Our Family
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and experienced live-in caregiver for a friendly 77-year-old gentleman living in a beautiful private home in Miramar Beach, Florida.
He has Lewy body dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and significant vision loss from macular degeneration. Despite these conditions, he is pleasant, cooperative, conversational, enjoys company, and is never aggressive or combative.
He simply requires assistance with many of the activities of daily living.
Our goal is to provide him with dignity, companionship, safety, and the highest possible quality of life while allowing him to remain in his own home.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with getting in and out of bed.
- Assist with dressing and grooming.
- Supervise bathing and personal hygiene.
- Assist with toileting and bowel-management routines.
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks.
- Medication reminders.
- Light housekeeping related to the patient’s care.
- Laundry and linen changes.
- Provide companionship and conversation.
- Accompany him on walks or outings as appropriate.
- Monitor for fall risks and provide mobility assistance.
- Communicate regularly with family regarding his condition.
- Coordinate with visiting healthcare providers as needed.
Schedule
This is a live-in position.
The caregiver will have:
- A private bedroom and bathroom.
- Daily personal time.
- Scheduled time off each week.
- Additional daytime relief caregivers to assist and provide regular breaks.
- Family support and involvement.
This is intended to be a sustainable position rather than one requiring continuous 24-hour active duty.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Home Health Aide (HHA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or equivalent caregiving experience.
- Experience caring for individuals with Lewy body dementia, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, or other dementias.
- Experience assisting with transfers and mobility.
- CPR certification preferred.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Excellent references.
- Non-smoker.
- Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately.
