School-Based Occupational Therapist

Hourly Rate : $60.00 – $65.00 per hour

Position Summary
Occupational Therapists are needed for the 2026–2027 school year near Rockford, IL. Opportunities include both short-term and long-term assignments, including full-time school year and FMLA coverage positions. The Occupational Therapist will support elementary and middle school students across general education, resource, and self-contained settings. This role focuses on providing direct and consultative occupational therapy services in a collaborative, student-centered educational environment.

Responsibilities

• Schedule / Shift

• Shift details: Monday–Friday following school schedule
• Hours per week: Full-time hours based on school schedule
• Contract length: 2026–2027 school year

• Key Duties:

• Provide occupational therapy screenings, assessments, treatment, and progress reporting for students
• Deliver direct and consultative occupational therapy services in accordance with student needs and IEP goals
• Participate in and present at IEP meetings and student conferences with educational staff
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and related service providers to support student success
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

• Education

• Required: Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program

• Licenses & Certifications

• Required: Active Illinois Occupational Therapist license through IDFPR
• Preferred: Prior school-based or pediatric experience

Skills :

• Ability to work collaboratively in a student-centered educational environment
• Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills
• Knowledge of occupational therapy practices within school settings
• Ability to manage varying caseloads across multiple educational programs
